Hi everyone!
Happy Wednesday and I hope your weeks are going well. I've been learning lots and it's only the second week! Holy cow! Tomorrow is also my birthday and I turn 20! Another holy cow! I keep forgetting which is funny because I very rarely forget my own birthday. But enough of that, let's show you what I've been up to.
Most recently, I've began some works that I plan to develop in my own time for my own practice. I'm fascinated by the effects we have on others and the things that effect us. This project has to do with eating disorders most specifically. I'm exploring questions that ask why people get eating disorders? How does society view them? What do they look like? What effect does media, our families, our peers, etc have on our bodies?
It was great to create a set of duct tape legs from Emma Kane's body. I say this with the utmost gratitude for her. And also to Jess because she had the harder job! Next step is to fill them with foam! Oh boy!
I've also been asked by the lovely Thea to make her a poncho. You may recall the poncho I made a few weeks ago. This is the same pattern for the most part, just with a different neck line and no stripes at all. I've had to order some more yarn because I'm not going to make it to the end with what I have left! Oh mon dieu!
The next thing on the list are these super awesome overalls. Who knew I needed them? I am going to test and probably modify this pocket so I can wear them when I make art. This thing needs pockets!
Finally, Emma Kane drew this amazing dragon on my arm the other day. Hooray for markers! It's almost completely faded now unfortunately but gosh was it cool in the flesh (no pun intended).
Xo,
Emma
