Hi bloggers!
Sorry it's so late! I've been busy for my first week back and getting used to my new classes. It's tough to get back into the swing of things when you're so close to the finish like you can taste it.
Tonight in my art history plenary session we watched a film about female artists, feminist art, and women's rights. The film was extremely enlightening and made me realize how few female artists I was taught K-12. Georgia O'keeffe and Frieda Kalho are the only two that come to mind. Can you name three female artists?
There were so many movements in the 60s and 70s revolving around rights. It is incredible to me the amount of women's art that was produced during these movements about rights and that wasn't shown in gallery spaces or to the public.
That being said, we have a long way to go. I am appreciative of the beginnings of the work that has been done for me, and maybe in a few upcoming pieces I can illustrate that appreciation. Sorry for the ramble but I'm not sorry for the content.
Xo,
Emma
