Good morning everyone!
If you thought last week's blog post was chalk full of crazy art, just check this week out. College is keeping us busy!
For Thursday and Friday of last week, we were assigned to build a four foot inflatable sculpture only using tape, thin plastic, and a fan. Yes, it sounds crazy to have only 6 days and build a sculpture like that. Everyone keeps saying how in high school we would have had a month for something like this, and a lot of hand holding. I like that they're entrusting us in a project this large and complicated.
I've been thinking a lot about my grandparents recently so I decided to do an ear of corn as my sculpture. It doesn't seem like there would be a correlation between the two but you haven't seen my grandfather eat corn.
The kernels are small origami balloons that I folded so they were already inflated. The inside of the corn and at least a bit of the husks should inflate too. I'm bringing in my fan today to hook it up permanently instead of using one of the box fans that they brought for us. Hopefully everyone likes the results! I'll post photos of this project when it's inflated super soon!
Xo,
Emma
