Good Morning my readers, how aaaaaare you?
I am writing to you today because I have officially spent 7 days in college! Yay! A whole week. I'm telling you now that college is way more rigorous than high school if you don't already know. My first, and probably most important, course is art foundations. There are around 100 of us in the room at a time and we have 6 or 7 professors corralling us and trying to squeeze sensical art out of us. Every project that we're doing this week has to do with home. What is home? How does it shape us? Who am I? What do I want the class to know about me?
The first thing they had us do is paint the walls of the room. We had to use only black ink, pictures and each other to portray home. We still aren't finished but let me show you some pictures.
In the end, our professors want 50/50 black and white. It's going to be a lot of space to cover but I'm excited for the outcome.
The other two projects we're working on right now are making recordings of "hometown stories" and making 7-10 zines about ourselves.
For my story, I am talking about how my grandparents got together in middle school and are still together to this day. It's a story that is important to me and reveals a lot about me. I'm having Tavish record it because I don't like the way I sound on recorded devices and he sounds good.
The 3 zines I have so far are about family, the quotes and lyrics that are important to me, and Tavish + I. I'll show you a few pictures of those. They'll be photocopied and produced for our opening show on Friday.
I'm so excited! It's week one and we're having a show already!
Even though it's a ton of work, I'm having fun and making friends already!
Xo,
Emma
